Baleba Faces Three-Week Layoff Following Move to Manchester United

Manchester United's manager, Michael Carrick, has announced that the newly acquired £70 million player, Carlos Baleba, will be out of action for two to three weeks due to a minor ankle injury.

The club finalized the transfer of the 22-year-old Cameroon international from Brighton & Hove Albion on Tuesday. However, Baleba arrived with a pre-existing ankle ligament issue that he sustained during a pre-season friendly against Strasbourg. During his press conference on Friday, Carrick assured that the club was fully aware of the injury before completing the transfer, alleviating concerns among fans that it is not a long-term issue.

Baleba will officially miss Manchester United's home game against Ipswich Town this Sunday, as well as their following match against Everton. Due to the upcoming international break, it is highly unlikely that he will play before late September. The club's medical team is tentatively aiming for his debut to be either in the Manchester derby on September 13 or in the Premier League match against Fulham on September 20.

Amad Diallo, the winger, remains unavailable due to a training-ground injury and will miss the match against Ipswich, with reports indicating he could be sidelined for up to six weeks.
In a positive development for Carrick's squad, Mason Mount has returned to full training after recovering from a foot injury and is available for selection this weekend.

Returning players Marcus Rashford, Lisandro Martínez, and Kobbie Mainoo are all vying for starting positions after having been limited to bench roles during last weekend's 2-0 defeat to Hull City on the opening day.
