Arne Slot removed as Liverpool manager following Saturday announcement

Liverpool dismissed manager Arne Slot on Saturday, indicating that the club was in search of a "change of direction" following a poor defense of their Premier League title.

The Reds concluded the season in fifth place, trailing champions Arsenal by 25 points, despite investing a Premier League record of nearly £450 million ($605 million) on new signings in a single transfer window last year.

Outgoing Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola is the leading candidate after guiding the Cherries into Europe for the first time in the club's history.
Just over a year ago, Slot was celebrated as a hero for taking on the challenging task of succeeding Jurgen Klopp and leading Liverpool to a record-equalling 20th English top-flight title in his inaugural season.

However, fans turned against the Dutchman this season following a string of uninspired performances.
There were also indications of discord within the dressing room, particularly from Mohamed Salah, who called for a return to "heavy metal football" in a provocative social media post, alluding to Klopp's high-energy style of play.

Salah's remarks received support from several members of the current squad.
Despite these challenges, reports suggested that Slot would be granted a reprieve after achieving Champions League qualification.

  White House   press secretary   Karoline Leavitt    on Wednesday has criticized  the media, Democrats, and likely some   Republicans   in the House and Senate for trying to “sow chaos” in the White House with their response to the   Signal   text chain debacle. Leavitt was asked by a reporter if she would definitively say that no one would be fired after a journalist was accidentally added to a Signal thread with top U.S. officials discussing military plans. Leavitt said, "What I can say definitively is what I just spoke to the president about, and he continues to have confidence in his  national security team ." Meanwhile, CNN's Collins attempted to ask the press secretary a follow-up question, but was quickly cut off by Leavitt, who called on another reporter in the room.

Trump signs executive order targeting ticket price reselling

  President Trump signed an executive order targeting the ticket reselling industry during a signing ceremony from the White House. The new order will allow the Justice Department and Federal Trade Commission to go after the reselling industry, which has used computer bots and algorithms to buy large blocks of tickets and resell them at extremely higher prices.  Musician Kid Rock, who also appeared at the Republican National Convention last July, was present at the signing in the Oval Office.  The president also took several questions from the press, including on the possibility of additional sanctions on Russia, immigration, and tariffs. “I’ve spoken to him over the years about it and it bothers him,” Trump said about Kid Rock during the executive order’s signing. “It bothers a lot of other artists.
