Messi Scores As Inter Miami Stun Porto At Club World Cup

Image
Lionel Messi scored his first goal of the expanded Club World Cup on a distinct free kick in the 54th minute to move Inter Miami's 2-1 victory over Porto on Thursday   at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta Georgia, USA. The Argentine superstar found the top corner with a second half set-piece to clinch a surprise victory for the MLS side and give them a strong chance of progressing from Group A. Inter Miami and Palmeiras have four points each, after the Brazilian side beat Al Ahly 2-0 earlier on — the Egyptians like Porto have one point. Samu Aghehowa’s early penalty gave the Portuguese side the lead as they had the better of the first half and could have scored more. However, Telasco Segovia blasted Miami level and then Messi’s free-kick helped them claim a noteworthy scalp, in a match many thought would be straightforward for Porto. Co-owned by former England international David Beckham, Inter Miami played their first MLS match in 2020 and signed Messi in 2023, raising their...

Trump Extends TikTok Deadline For Third Time

Image
US President Donald Trump will this week give TikTok an extra 90-day extension to find a non-Chinese buyer, the White House said Tuesday, the third time he has put off a threatened ban on the popular app. The short video app has been illegal for companies to support or host online since Jan. 19, but Trump has been granting it unilateral extensions since he took office, saying he has a deal in the works. “As he has said many times, President Trump does not want TikTok to go dark,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a statement on Tuesday. “This extension will last 90 days, which the Administration will spend working to ensure this deal is closed so that the American people can continue to use TikTok with the assurance that their data is safe and secure.” Just as the White House was preparing to unveil the finalized TikTok agreement ahead of an April 5 deadline, Beijing called ByteDance — TikTok’s China-based parent company — and ordered it to pause the deal after Washi...

‘We’ Have Control Of Iran’s Skies, Says Trump

Image
President Donald Trump said Tuesday that “we” have control of the skies over Iran as questions grew over whether the United States will join Israel’s strikes against the Islamic republic. “We now have complete and total control of the skies over Iran,” Trump said on Truth Social, hailing the use of US-made weaponry although without explicitly mentioning Israel. “Nobody does it better than the good ol’ USA.” Trump also dramatically stepped up his rhetoric against Iran’s supreme leader saying on social media that the United States knows where Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is located but will not kill him “for now.” Trump is also calling for Iran’s “UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER!” “We know exactly where the so-called ‘Supreme Leader’ is hiding. He is an easy target, but is safe there — We are not going to take him out (kill!), at least not for now,” Trump said on his Truth Social platform. “But we don’t want missiles shot at civilians, or American soldiers. Our patience is wearing thin. Thank you for ...

Trump Warns If Iran Attacks, ‘Full Strength’ Of US Military Will ‘Come Down’

Image
Donald Trump warned Iran on Sunday that it would experience “the full strength” of the US military if it attacks the United States. He emphasized again that Washington “had nothing to do” with Israel’s strikes on Tehran’s nuclear and intelligence facilities. Israel’s operation, which began early Friday, has targeted Iranian nuclear and military sites, killing dozens of people including top army commanders and atomic scientists, according to Tehran. Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, has vowed to hit “every target of the ayatollah regime,” and Iran has retaliated with a deadly barrage of missiles. While Trump had said he was aware of the Israeli operation before it started, he reiterated Sunday morning on his Truth Social platform that the United States “had nothing to do with the attack on Iran, tonight.” “If we are attacked in any way, shape, or form by Iran, the full strength and might of the US Armed Forces will come down on you at levels never seen before,” he said in a po...
