US Identifies 24 Nigerians Arrested in Fraud and Money-Laundering Case

The United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has disclosed the identities and photographs of 24 Nigerian nationals detained by immigration authorities nationwide.                                        DHS published this roster on its "Worst of the Worst" online platform as part of an aggressive immigration enforcement and mass deportation initiative under the Trump administration.

These individuals were apprehended by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) across multiple jurisdictions. While financial crimes including wire fraud, mail fraud, and money laundering constitute the primary charges, the offenses encompass identity theft, forgery, drug possession, weapons violations, assault, and child cruelty. DHS clarified that inclusion on this list signifies they are currently undergoing criminal or immigration enforcement investigations, not that they face imminent final deportation.

This disclosure emerges as the Trump administration advances its agenda of removing foreign nationals designated as enforcement priorities under its immigration enforcement framework. Nevertheless, the information disclosed by DHS fails to clarify the ultimate immigration status of each individual or furnish specifics regarding their respective deportation procedures.
