Outrage After Trump Shares Map Seemingly Claiming Canada, Greenland, Iceland, Mexico and Caribbean as US.

 

US President Donald Trump incited global condemnation after sharing an AI-generated map on Truth Social, which illustrated Canada, Greenland, Iceland, Mexico, and the Caribbean as territories of the United States.

The entire area depicted in the image was adorned with the American flag and was clearly labeled as the "United States of America".

This contentious post has intensified international geopolitical tensions. On Tuesday, Iceland responded strongly by summoning the US Ambassador and labeling the shared map as "wholly inappropriate".

The map's release coincides with significant trade disputes, as Washington and Ottawa have imposed billion-dollar retaliatory tariffs on one another. Additionally, Trump shared an AI-generated cartoon that mocked Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.

This image was part of a series of 100 posts made over the Labor Day weekend. It follows earlier posts in which Trump proposed renaming New Mexico to "New America" and issued an executive order to rename Lake Ontario to "Lake America".

Recent surveys indicate that approximately 85% of Greenland's population is against the idea of joining the United States, with only about 6% in favor of such a move. All major political parties in Greenland have expressed their desire to remain independent from the U.S.
