Super Eagles hold 26th in latest FIFA ranking

Nigeria's Super Eagles have maintained their 26th position in the most recent April 2026 FIFA World Ranking, remaining steady at 1,585.09 points following a 2-1 victory over Iran and a 2-2 draw with Jordan during March friendlies.

They continue to hold the 3rd position in Africa, trailing behind Morocco and Senegal, which marks their highest ranking in 16 years.

Key highlights from the latest ranking:

Global Position: 26th (unchanged).

African Standing: 3rd behind Morocco and Senegal.

March Friendlies: The team, under the management of Eric Chelle, accrued points from their win against Iran but experienced a slight decrease after the draw with Jordan.

Historical Context: This 26th place preserves their elevated ranking achieved post the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, the best since their 21st place in May 2010.

The forthcoming FIFA rankings update is set for June 10, 2026.

Despite the stable ranking, the Super Eagles will not participate in the 2026 World Cup after losing their qualifying play-offs.
