Open Your Toilets To Public, Lagos Urges Banks, Filling Stations, Others

The Lagos State Government has issued a directive and made an appeal to private entities, such as filling stations, banks, and eateries, to allow public access to their restrooms in order to combat open defecation and improve sanitation.

This initiative, as reported by Channels Television on X, is part of a larger strategy that includes the installation of 1,710 public toilets aimed at addressing public hygiene issues and enhancing the city's environment.

Banks, petrol stations, and restaurants are encouraged to make their restrooms available to the public. The state encourages businesses to act responsibly, recognizing that government efforts alone are insufficient to meet the population's sanitation needs.

This initiative underscores the notion that public sanitation is a collective responsibility, and that government actions alone cannot meet the demands of the increasing population.

The government has stressed the importance of this initiative, with Commissioner Tokunbo Wahab noting on Facebook that it is essential to eliminate open defecation and enhance public sanitation.
