Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho will be out for several weeks with an ankle ligament injury sustained

Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho will be side-tracked for several weeks after suffering an injury in the 0-0 draw with Southampton on Sunday. The 18-year-old came on after 73 minutes of the game and appeared to be in pain after a challenge by Kyle Walker-Peters.
Garnacho then went off and was replaced by Fred in the closing stages before leaving Old Trafford on crutches. "It is difficult to put into words how I'm feeling right now," said Garnacho. "Unfortunately I will not be able to help my team and team-mates in the upcoming games in what is a very important part of the season for us at Manchester United." United face Real Betis in the second leg of their last-16 Europa League tie on Thursday before taking on Fulham in an FA Cup quarter-final on Sunday before the international break.
Garnacho had been called up by world champions Argentina for friendlies this month when he could have made his international debut. "I am disappointed to also miss the opportunity to be with my team mates of the Argentinian national team in what would have been a great and proud moment for me and my family," added Garnacho on Instagram. "This is part of football and our profession, however, I am already focused in my recovery."

Meanwhile, Chris Sutton have said that there is not an outstanding team in this season's tournament while football journalist Rory Smith thinks the competition is "not as daunting" as in past years.

Indonesia stadium stampede leaves 125 dead

  At least 125 people died and 323 injured at an Indonesian football stadium when thousands of angry home fans invaded the pitch and police responded with tear gas that triggered a stampede, authorities said Sunday.  Arema FC supporters at the Kanjuruhan stadium marched onto the pitch after their team lost 3-2 to the visiting team and bitter rivals, Persebaya Surabaya. Officers fired tear gas in an attempt to disperse agitated supporters of the losing home side who had invaded the pitch after the final whistle in Malang, East Java, on Saturday night, the region’s police chief Nico Afinta told reporters. Many of the victims were trampled or choked to death, according to police.  Survivors described panicking spectators in a packed crowd as tear gas rained down on them. President Joko Widodo ordered an investigation into the tragedy, a safety review into all football matches and directed the country's football association to suspend all matches until "security improvements"

  U.S. Mission Country Consular  Advisor , Susan Tuller on Friday revealed that the Embassy in Abuja and Consulate General in Lagos will make every effort to assist student visa applicants in a timely fashion while keeping personnel and customers safe.  “As we continue to prioritize the health and safety of our staff and customers, processing student visas remains a high priority for the U.S. Mission in Nigeria. “We will increase the number of student visa appointments in May and June to ensure that we can offer appointments to as many students as possible.
