Africa : Virus Still Potent Says Boss Mustapha, [SGF]

  The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF)  and the chairman Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19  has warned Nigerians to remain vigilant in spite of the lowest number of cases recorded in four months.

Mr Boss Mustapha, gave the caution on Monday at the briefing of the task force in Abuja.
He said, “For us in Nigeria, the last three weeks have shown a slowdown in the number of confirmed cases. Indeed, in the last four months of testing, the lowest daily figure of confirmed cases (138) was reported on August 30.
“The PTF still urges caution and vigilance on the declining numbers because the virus is still potent and very dangerous.” According to the SGF, this position is informed by the fact that despite the nation’s enhanced testing capacity, the number of samples collected for testing have not been encouraging.
He also advised states to expand the scope of their sample collection.

Trump signs executive order targeting ticket price reselling

  President Trump signed an executive order targeting the ticket reselling industry during a signing ceremony from the White House. The new order will allow the Justice Department and Federal Trade Commission to go after the reselling industry, which has used computer bots and algorithms to buy large blocks of tickets and resell them at extremely higher prices.  Musician Kid Rock, who also appeared at the Republican National Convention last July, was present at the signing in the Oval Office.  The president also took several questions from the press, including on the possibility of additional sanctions on Russia, immigration, and tariffs. “I’ve spoken to him over the years about it and it bothers him,” Trump said about Kid Rock during the executive order’s signing. “It bothers a lot of other artists.
