Tyler Perry Makes History as First African American to Own Major Film Studio

The 50-year-old mogul celebrated the achievement Saturday night  at the gala opening of the Studio in Atlanta Georgia.. Spike Lee, Oprah, Beyonce, Halle Berry and Cecily Tyson were just some of the Celebrities in attendance.

 In an interview with Essence, he spoke on the importance of knocking down doors and building legacies.
“You know what? It feels like encouragement, it feels like gratitude. But more than anything, I hope it becomes, for everybody else who is ever dreaming and hoping, they can do it too,” Perry told the magazine. 

 According to WSB, Perry built 12 sound stages, each named after black pioneers in the arts. The stages are all available for other Hollywood studios to rent. AMC’s “The Walking Dead” and Marvel’s monster hit “Black Panther” have already been filmed there. The property even includes a replica of The White House.

  Arsenal beat  Newcastle  4-1 in the Premier League on Saturday. It was the Gunners' sixth successive victory in the league. They have scored 25 goals and conceded just three in that run. Arsenal are the sixth side to win their first six Premier League matches of a calendar year - the last three have won the title. Indonesia stadium stampede leaves 125 dead

  At least 125 people died and 323 injured at an Indonesian football stadium when thousands of angry home fans invaded the pitch and police responded with tear gas that triggered a stampede, authorities said Sunday.  Arema FC supporters at the Kanjuruhan stadium marched onto the pitch after their team lost 3-2 to the visiting team and bitter rivals, Persebaya Surabaya. Officers fired tear gas in an attempt to disperse agitated supporters of the losing home side who had invaded the pitch after the final whistle in Malang, East Java, on Saturday night, the region’s police chief Nico Afinta told reporters. Many of the victims were trampled or choked to death, according to police.  Survivors described panicking spectators in a packed crowd as tear gas rained down on them. President Joko Widodo ordered an investigation into the tragedy, a safety review into all football matches and directed the country's football association to suspend all matches until "security improvements"
