Serena’s Knee Injury Ends Williams Sisters Doubles Campaign at Wimbledon

Serena and Venus Williams have officially withdrawn from the Wimbledon doubles draw due to a knee injury. This decision follows Serena's inability to recover from a right knee injury sustained during her opening-round singles loss to Maya. The injury has effectively ended the Williams sisters' Wimbledon comeback.

Serena incurred the injury late in the first set of her singles match but managed to complete the match. Her Instagram post featured images of significant strapping and syringes used to drain fluid from her knee, confirming her withdrawal from the doubles event due to this injury setback.

The opening-round doubles match against Camila Osorio and Solana Sierra was rescheduled to Saturday to allow Serena the best chance to recover; however, the injury ultimately proved too serious for her to participate. This year's tournament marked Serena's return to Grand Slam tennis after nearly four years, with her last appearance being at the 2022 US Open.

Both sisters have exited the 2026 Wimbledon tournament, as Venus also lost her first-round mixed-doubles match alongside Kevin Krawietz. While Serena's future schedule remains unannounced, she has hinted at upcoming events, encouraging fans to "stay tuned to a city near you."
