Record Breaking Djokovic Advances to Wimbledon Quarterfinals

On July 5, 2026, Novak Djokovic triumphed over Roman Safiullin with a score of 7-6(6), 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 at Wimbledon, thereby advancing to his 17th quarter-final.

This intense four-set match lasted three hours and 25 minutes on a scorching Centre Court. With this win, Djokovic eclipsed Roger Federer's all-time men's record by achieving his 106th singles victory at the All England Club.
He accomplished his 106th win, surpassing Roger Federer's previous record of 105 victories. He now ranks second only to Martina Navratilova, who holds 120 wins on the all-time list, and has reached his 66th career Grand Slam quarter-final out of 83 major tournaments, further extending his own historical record. 

At the age of 39, he became the third man in the Open Era to reach the Wimbledon quarter-finals at 39 or older, joining the ranks of Ken Rosewall and Federer. He has also maintained an impeccable 34-0 career record against qualifiers in Grand Slam events.
Djokovic is on course to pursue a record-breaking 25th Grand Slam singles title and to match Federer's tally of eight Wimbledon championships. He will compete in the quarter-finals on Tuesday, July 7, against either third seed Felix Auger-Aliassime or 22nd seed Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.

New Demon Slayer movie sets box office record in Japan, fastest to reach 10 billion yen

  The latest "Demon Slayer" movie, titled  "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle, " has broken multiple box office records in Japan.  It achieved the fastest-ever ¥10 billion yen ($67 million USD) in box office earnings , reaching this milestone in just eight days.  The film also broke records for opening day, single-day, and opening weekend gross.   According to Kogyo Tsushinsha, which monitors movie ticket sales, the film achieved the milestone just eight days after its release on July 18 — breaking the previous record set by the last Demon Slayer movie in 2020, which took ten days to reach the same mark. Trump signs executive order targeting ticket price reselling

  President Trump signed an executive order targeting the ticket reselling industry during a signing ceremony from the White House. The new order will allow the Justice Department and Federal Trade Commission to go after the reselling industry, which has used computer bots and algorithms to buy large blocks of tickets and resell them at extremely higher prices.  Musician Kid Rock, who also appeared at the Republican National Convention last July, was present at the signing in the Oval Office.  The president also took several questions from the press, including on the possibility of additional sanctions on Russia, immigration, and tariffs. “I’ve spoken to him over the years about it and it bothers him,” Trump said about Kid Rock during the executive order’s signing. “It bothers a lot of other artists.
