Belgium stuns United States with 4-1 victory on July 6 2026

On July 6, 2026, Belgium triumphed over the United States with a score of 4-1, thereby eliminating the host nation from the FIFA World Cup during the Round of 16. 

The match took place at Lumen Field in Seattle, shattering the Americans' aspirations for a significant tournament run on their home turf.

Belgium's Charles De Ketelaere initiated the scoring in the 9th minute, but US midfielder Malik Tillman quickly equalized to 1-1 with a deflected free kick. Merely 61 seconds later, De Ketelaere netted his second goal, restoring Belgium's lead.
A mistake in the second half by US goalkeeper Matt Freese permitted Hans Vanaken to score Belgium's third goal. Romelu Lukaku concluded the commanding performance with a goal during stoppage time.

With the exit of the USMNT, all three host nations for 2026 (the USA, Mexico, and Canada) have now been officially eliminated. Belgium progresses to the quarterfinals, where they are set to compete against Spain on Friday, July 10.

New Demon Slayer movie sets box office record in Japan, fastest to reach 10 billion yen

  The latest "Demon Slayer" movie, titled  "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle, " has broken multiple box office records in Japan.  It achieved the fastest-ever ¥10 billion yen ($67 million USD) in box office earnings , reaching this milestone in just eight days.  The film also broke records for opening day, single-day, and opening weekend gross.   According to Kogyo Tsushinsha, which monitors movie ticket sales, the film achieved the milestone just eight days after its release on July 18 — breaking the previous record set by the last Demon Slayer movie in 2020, which took ten days to reach the same mark. Trump signs executive order targeting ticket price reselling

  President Trump signed an executive order targeting the ticket reselling industry during a signing ceremony from the White House. The new order will allow the Justice Department and Federal Trade Commission to go after the reselling industry, which has used computer bots and algorithms to buy large blocks of tickets and resell them at extremely higher prices.  Musician Kid Rock, who also appeared at the Republican National Convention last July, was present at the signing in the Oval Office.  The president also took several questions from the press, including on the possibility of additional sanctions on Russia, immigration, and tariffs. “I’ve spoken to him over the years about it and it bothers him,” Trump said about Kid Rock during the executive order’s signing. “It bothers a lot of other artists.
