Federal and local officials have identified the suspect in the March 1, 2026, mass shooting in Austin, Texas, as Ndiaga Diagne, a 53-year-old naturalized U.S. citizen originally from Senegal.

Diagne immigrated to the U.S. in 2006 and became a naturalized citizen in either 2012 or 2013. Law enforcement recently executed a search warrant at a residence in Pflugerville, Texas, connected to him.

The Attack: Early Sunday morning, the suspect allegedly used a large SUV to circle a block on West 6th Street before opening fire with a pistol on patrons at Buford's Backyard Beer Garden. He then parked, exited the vehicle, and continued shooting with a rifle before being fatally shot by Austin police officers.

Casualties: The shooting resulted in three deaths (including the suspect) and 14 injuries.

Potential Motive: The FBI is investigating the shooting as a potential act of terrorism. Sources report the suspect was wearing a sweatshirt that said "Property of Allah" and an undershirt with an Iranian flag design. Officials are exploring whether the attack was a response to recent military strikes on Iran.

  President Trump signed an executive order targeting the ticket reselling industry during a signing ceremony from the White House. The new order will allow the Justice Department and Federal Trade Commission to go after the reselling industry, which has used computer bots and algorithms to buy large blocks of tickets and resell them at extremely higher prices.  Musician Kid Rock, who also appeared at the Republican National Convention last July, was present at the signing in the Oval Office.  The president also took several questions from the press, including on the possibility of additional sanctions on Russia, immigration, and tariffs. “I’ve spoken to him over the years about it and it bothers him,” Trump said about Kid Rock during the executive order’s signing. “It bothers a lot of other artists.
