NAFDAC flags Indian firm’s malaria, HIV test kits

 

Nigeria's National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has issued a public alert regarding safety and quality concerns with malaria and HIV test kits manufactured by the Indian firm Meril Diagnostics Pvt. Ltd.

The alert follows a World Health Organization (WHO) audit of Meril Diagnostics Pvt. Ltd, which revealed significant violations of quality standards, affecting Meriscreen malaria and HIV test kits.

Local Status: Although registered, these products have not been legally imported into Nigeria yet.

Agency Directives

Enforcement: NAFDAC is conducting surveillance to prevent entry of these products, treating any found as falsified and illegal.

Public Action: Stakeholders are advised to avoid these products and report any sightings to NAFDAC.
