Air Force strikes kill ‘several’ terrorists in Borno

  The Nigerian Air Force says its air strikes have fried several terrorists on the borders of Lake Tchad in Borno State. According to the Nigerian Air Force, Boko Haram and Islamic States of West Africa Province, terrorists were subdued after air strikes destroyed their hideouts and destroyed their structures and strategic logistics base in the region in air strikes on the fringes of Lake Chad in Borno State. “Similar strikes were also undertaken at Tumbun Shitu after structures believed to be terrorists’ hideouts were observed tucked under thick foliage,” a Monday statement by NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, read. “Additionally, three-gun trucks with terrorists were sighted moving into the location. The need to strike the location thus became imperative. BUA Cement Plc has a contextualized plan for the implementation of its reduced ex-factory price of N3,500 per bag, saying Nigerians can begin to enjoy the benefits of the price reduction before the completion of its plants. The company’s management, in a statement on Sunday, cited its commitment to reduce cement prices upon the completion of the company’s new lines at the end of the year, in order to spur development in the building materials and infrastructure sectors. MOHBAD'S DEATH : Sam Larry in our custody – Police

The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed that music promoter, Balogun Eletu, also known as Sam Larry, is now in its custody as the probe of Afrobeats singer Mohbad’s death continues. This was made known by the Nigerian Police Public Relations Officer SP Benjamin Hundeyin via his X account on Thursday. “Balogun Olamilekan Eletu aka Sam Larry is now in our custody. He is currently assisting with ongoing investigation,” Hundeyin said. The development comes less than 24 hours after Naira Marley said he was willing to fly back to Nigeria for investigation. According to the statement, Naira Marley said all manner of stories had been peddled against him in respect of the death of Mohbad, whose real name is Ilerioluwa Aloba. Since the news of Mohbad’s passing, public attention has turned to Larry as the subject of old social media posts by the late singer which have raised concerns.   Nigerian musician, Naira Marley, has denied being a drug lord, contending that he does not belong to a cult. Mr Azeez Fashola, known also as Naira Marley  said this in a statement on Tuesday, in the mist of theory connecting him to the death of Afrobeats musician Ilerioluwa Aloba (Mohbad). Mohbad died on Tuesday, September 12, 2023. Following his death, there have been allegations that he was assaulted by Naira Marley and his crew. But in the statement, the singer said he did not torture nor attack the late Peace crooner contrary to speculations, debunking reports that belongs to a cult group. “The rumours regarding the label being a drug cartel are untrue. Mohbad: House of Reps observe moment of silence, promise to monitor probe

The House of Representatives on Tuesday observed a moment of silence for the late Afrobeats singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, better known as Mohbad, who died two weeks ago aged 27. The lower chamber paid the tribute at the beginning of an executive session at the resumption of plenary in Abuja. Following a motion of urgent importance by the member representing the Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Mr Babajimi Benson, the House further resolved to monitor the investigation surrounding his death and royalties accruing to him. Benson called for a review of relevant laws guiding the entertainment industry as well as copyright laws, while expressing concerns about the contracts and agreements that entertainers are compelled to sign.  

NIGERIA: Tribunal strikes out Rhodes-Vivour, LP from Jandor’s petition over Lagos Gov Election

The Lagos State Governorship Election Tribunal has struck out the Labour Party and its candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, from the petition of his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) counterpart, Olajide Adediran popularly known as Jandor, against the recent governorship election. Jandor is challenging the return of Babajide SanwoOlu and Obafemi Hamzat in the March 18 governorship election in Lagos State. Shortly after the announcement of appearances by all lawyers and parties in the case at Monday’s proceeding, the Chairman of the tribunal, Justice Arum Ashom, announced that the court would first deliver judgment in the case of the PDP & its candidate before giving its judgment in the petition of the governorship candidate of the Labour Party, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour. Justice Ashom also yielded the floor to his brother judge, Justice Mikail Abdullahi to read the judgment on behalf of the panel. The third judge on the panel is Justice Igho Braimoh.
