Although, it is not illegal for a foreign national to come to the U.S. to give birth, but it is illegal to lie on a visa application about the aim of one’s visit. Federal prosecutors opposed the sentence and said they believed Li should face up to 15 years in prison to warn others from helping women lie on visa applications and hide pregnancies in these so-called birth tourism schemes. Federal authorities said LI's company helped more than 500 Chinese women travel to the United States to deliver American babies.  Authorities said the company trained the women to lie on their visa applications and to conceal their pregnancies

A sheriff’s office in North Carolina has fired a school resource officer seen on surveillance video violently slamming a middle school student to the ground twice and then dragging the child off camera. (WRAL, CNN, Surveillance video / CNN Newsource) A North Carolina  school resource officer has been placed on paid administrative leave after violently slamming a child to the ground twice at a middle school, authorities told the Associated Press on Sunday.  Authorities haven’t named the student but the sheriff said the child is under the age of 12. The North Carolina Bureau of Investigation has been called to investigate the assault, which happened at Vance County Middle School.

               Jakovee Gray  A nursing home worker allegedly stole rings off of an elderly patient’s fingers and sold them to a pawn shop in Florida, police said. Jakovee Gray, 30, was arrested Wednesday on charges of grand theft and exploitation of the elderly and booked into the Orange County Jail in Florida. Police said they were called to the nursing home in mid-November after a resident walked out of her room and began yelling that someone had stolen her rings. According to an arrest record, the victim said a nursing assistant asked to clean the rings when she came into the room to remove a breakfast tray,  Gray pawned the ring at a pawn shop in Haines City within two hours.  Police said they were able to confirm through the victim’s son that the rings were in fact the ones missing.  Gray is accused of grand theft and exploitation of the elderly.

The proposed policy, which would extend to the civilian workers employed by the federal government, is part of a broader $738 billion legislative package on defense spending for the government’s upcoming fiscal year. Rep. Carolyn Maloney, D-N.Y., chairwoman of the House Committee on Oversight and Reform, said in a congressional hearing Tuesday that the U.S. is one of just two countries in the world without any sort of mandatory paid leave, the other being Papua New Guinea. The legislation would be the first update to federal family leave policy in a generation, since the Family and Medical Leave Act was enacted in 1993. According to Aaron Diamant, WSBTV reporter who  witnessed the seizure of the plane in a case that is said to be related to an international fraud scheme. Special Agent Thor Whitmore of the Department of Homeland Security said, “For the most part, people don’t even understand. They don’t know what’s happening in Atlanta, Georgia. We’re looking at it as kind of a turn back to the 1980s.” More details coming soon.

The man, who was identified as J Owen Shroyer on his Twitter account,  shared video of his solo protest . His Twitter account stated he works for InfoWars, a far-right extremist website. A supporter of President Donald Trump almost disrupted the impeachment hearings for the House Judiciary Committee today. The man yelled in the chamber, interrupting Rep. Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y., as he began to deliver his opening statement. The man said the Democrats are “committing treason” and that Trump is innocent. “America is sick of the treason committed by the Democrat Party. We’re not going to sit here and watch you run an impeachment scam and remove our vote. We voted for Donald Trump and they’re simply removing you because they don’t like him,” the man said. “We know who committed the crimes and it wasn’t Trump. Trump is innocent.”   Mr. Shroyer was escorted out of the chamber by Capitol Police.
