On November 20, 2025, a Nigerian court sentenced separatist leader Nnamdi Kanu to life imprisonment after finding him guilty of seven terrorism-related charges. Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has postponed his trips to the G20 Summit in South Africa and the AU-EU Summit in Angola to receive security briefings on recent attacks in  Kebbi  and  Kwara States  The decision was announced on November 19, 2025, following a bandit attack on a church in Eruku, Kwara State, and the abduction of 24 schoolgirls in Kebbi State.
