Trump Would Be The Fourth President To Skip An Inauguration
President Trump said Friday that he won’t attend President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration on Jan. 20, making him the fourth outgoing president to avoid the swearing-in ceremonies. John Adams in 1801, John Quincy Adams in 1829 and Andrew Johnson in 1869 -- refused to attend their successors' inaugurations. "One of the few things he and I've ever agreed on – him not showing up," Biden told reporters. Former presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton and their wives will be there to stand witness to the rite of democracy. Former President Jimmy Carter and former first lady Rosalynn Carter will not attend President-elect Joe Biden's inauguration, a spokeswoman at The Carter Center in Atlanta said the Carters have sent Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris their "best wishes" and "look forward to a successful administration."
